"One day when I was on my second score with Fritz Loewe, he happened to mention
something about faith moving mountains. For my part I had long been keen on
the work of J M Barry, and I was also keen to work on a musical with a Scottish
setting. So I started thinking about magic, miracles and Scotland, until eventually
I got to thinking about maybe faith could move not just mountains but an entire
village".
----- Alan Jay Lerner explaining how his first great lyrical hit
came into being.
