A new CD release of historical recordings made by Sir Vivian Dunn. In 1953
Major F Vivian Dunn, then serving as Director of Music of the Portsmouth
Group Band, became the titular head of the entire Royal Marines Band Service
- at that time over 1000 musicians strong - and took up his new appointment
as its first Principal Director of Music. During the next fifty years the
Royal Marines School of Music established an enviable reputation for musical
excellence and produced a prodigious output of world class military band
recordings for EMI.
